Want a laughable remedy, George H.?

Squeeze a couple of lemons into about 8 oz. water. Drink it. If you don't feel better in about 4 hours, repeat the process. It will calm things down considerably in your
system.

The logic behind it is that the lemon, while it tastes very bitter and is highly acidic, it is transformed in digestion to an alkaline residue (or ash). The slightly alkaline fluids and tissues respond much more readily to calmness and comfort than the more acidic tissues and fluids helped along by the acidic ash of medications when being digested.

It does work for some folks.

(I keep a dozen or so lemons in my fridge most of the time!)
