I'm in a group of five friends, and the drama never ends. Last night, me and one of the friends decided we should just stop talking behind each others backs and just let it all out and get past it. So we did and it ended in disaster. Everyone blamed me for betraying their trusts and gossiping when really I was only stating the truth. Even thought they've all been talking about me behind my back. What do I do?

Honesty is usually the best policy, but that was probably a bad idea. See if the five of you can agree to just start over. From now on, make a rule for yourself. If you wouldn't say it to someone's face, don't say it at all. If you would say it to thier face, decide if its important enough to say it, and if it is, say it to the person you are having a problem with.

With a party of five friends, there is no way to keep a secret. People talk. Its human nature. You can't do anything about what your friends do and don't say, but you can change the way you approach things.

I just read this book and it said that people talk behind other people s backs to make themselves feel superior. Next time youre tempted to tell gossip, just ask yourself " am I saying this to make myself feel superior?" Also dont give audience to gossip. Just say "is that so?" if you have to say something.
