Hey gang,
I apologize for asking so many questions.

I just realized that I can't remember anything from January at all. That was the month before I went into the hospital with major depression.

Is it normal to lose weeks or months from your life with depression?

Holy *****. I don't know what to do with that....

Heavy sigh...

That sounds concerning. Depression can certainly cause memory problems but not to that extreme degree. I would advise asking your doctor about this.

Hi woundedhealer,

I'm sorry to say I don't know, but when you ask your doctor could you let us know what you find out? It is very scary, sorry to hear that.

I've heard of this happening to some people with severe depression and I don't really think it's a cause for concern - I mean, of course it is, depression is very concerning, but there's no other problem in addition to that, is what I'm saying. Your brain tends to shut that stuff out sometimes. Of course, I'm not a doctor, so I could be wrong.

What a relief! I called the P's office 4-5 times and never got thru.
I called their crisis line, and my appt should have been much earlier than scheduled. So, I go in at 10 in the morning.

I'm so relieved... I didn't think I could wait until mid May.

Oh, and yes. I'll ask the doc and let you know about the memory issues.

Thank you,

Do you have a dissociative disorder? They usually involve major memory loss.

My diagnosis was major depressive disorder, with anxiety.

I'm curious tho. What is dissociative disorder?

Thank you very much lovelacef.

I'm trying now to remember and write down all the questionsi want to ask.

I'm filled with anticipation as well as apprehension about my appt.

I'm curious...

I've seen lots of acronyms for therapist, psychiatrist, and psychologist on here.

Is there some kind of list somewhere that I can read and get up to speed on the psyche lingo?

Thank you...

Hello Again,

I saw my psychiatrist today.

These are the things we covered:

The memory loss I experienced for the entire month of January was due to the constant migraine pain. I guess when you are hurting, your mind considers anything else as trivial data, so no storage of trivial stuff.
My meds were not working, so I'm now taking Lexapro and Bupropion for the depression and anxiety.
I will have psychotherapy sessions beginning the 25th.
She also wants me to take off work for a month. I'm down to a few hours of fmla, and may not, well probably will not have my job when I am released.

So, today is the same as yesterday.

I wish I could will my heart to stop beating, so I can be free from the burden that it is to be me.

There are a few different dissociative disorders. Multiple personality is one, then there's dissociative amnesia, dissociative fugue, etc. They generally involve memory loss, or personality changes.

Well, I'm not explaining this very well, so I'll stop. Ugh.

Ultra darkness,
You're fine! I logged then up in my medical dictionary.
I don't have any dissociative disorders. Only depression and anxiety and they are more than enough chaos for me.

No worries.
