So does anyone else get depressed around the same time during the day, whether or not they have been "triggered?" I am not completely depressed all of the time, and for that I am grateful, but almost every day for about the past month around 4 pm I get really really depressed. Like so depressed I just curl up on the couch and cry, and just wish I was gone. Or, if someone has the unfortunate luck to walk into the house at that time, I am horrible to them/.lash out for no reason. BUT... I am usually better about an hour to an hour and a half later.

Is this even considered depression? I had been diagnosed clinically depressed before, and used to be on meds for that, but that was 13 years ago, and this definitely feels different, as there are times during the day that I do enjoy laughter. (the other time, there was no light...)

I was just curious...It is such an odd question, so I understand if it is weird. It seems weird, me just re-reading what I have typed. Oh well.

I don't know if it is considered depression or not, but I also get very depressed/anxious around the same time each day. Every evening my emotions run wild. Sometimes days aren't good either, but I can guarantee that every evening around 6 or 7, the depression/anxiety starts, and it usually lasts until I go to sleep. I was diagnosed with depression several years ago and have been on meds since.
Thanks for this!

Even if you did not have a history of depression, this has been persistent enough for long enough that you would do well speaking to a doctor about it - situation permitting. Your body/mind is trying to tell you something. I would hope the medical folks not simply pass this off as a depressive symptom but run a complete blood count.

Best advice is to get a doctor's opinion, in my view, too.

By the way, did you have something with caffeine or theobromine (in chocolate) about 12:30 or 1:00 P.M.? If you're using caffeine at lunch you could be experiencing the let down several hours afterwards, but it's best to go with a diagnosis from a doctor, please.

Sometimes I get depressed when I wake up. Maybe I just dread going to work sometimes. Is it possible something is triggering you without realizing it? Maybe you get sleepy around 4, and it comes out as depression?

I never thought about that! Maybe I should try to take a walk or ride my bike, even if it is just 10 minutes, around that time, and see if that helps to energize me (I can't have caffeine or I would totally do that!) Thanks adam_k!
