Hello, I am very young, and I am a female. I have had this "addiction", before I even knew what sexual activity was. I have not mentioned this addiction to my therapist.

When I was ten, I saw a seen from a movie which almost had rape in it. I have been forever traumatized. I experience frequent nightmares. But at the same time I had begun to masturbate, not even knowing what it was. Later on, I realized I am a rape victim, the movie has triggered some parts of a memory I could not remember. I still don't know what had occurred, but I remember a man.

My question is, do I really have a sexual addiction, or is it normal? My frequency in masturbation is on average of once a day, but a need for it is at around 6 hours. Is it possibly a disorder of something else, or an addiction being the result of my trauma.

How would I overcome it either way?

It may or may not be an addiction. I think the question to ask do you impulsively do it without pleasure? Is it interfering with your daily life? Do you not do things or avoid things because of this?

Some people have higher libido than other and for some people sex on a daily basis or self pleasure is a norm. I think it is what feels right for the person.

I do believe each person has a diff libido
I encourage you to have a psychosexual eval. Therapy might be another good option.
