I didn't get a job at a very prestigious college...I was one of the final 3 candidates, so that is an honor. But basically, I live alone, my job stinks, I don't have any friends or family closer than an hour away, and I don't have any bf in the picture. I feel like my life has been, and still is, going nowhere.

What's the point?

May I suggest a book? It is "Let Your Life Speak- Listening for the Voice of Vocation", written by Parker J. Palmer (Jossey-Bass, 2000) It's a small book but with a profound message. Highly recommended!
Thanks for this!

I don't know what the point may turn out to be, but I'm impressed with your feat of going through an intense process that took you to being one of three final candidates.

Such a rejection, though, would be highly discouraging to me and would require a "recharge" period. I hope you can recharge and do so in ways that are genuinely refreshing for you.

Its hard when our ambition rebounds and smacks us in the face. At least you have some. Ambition that is. It stings now. Dont give up, what is right for you will come along. Life is a process. I know how it feels.

I agree w/ others, you did good by putting
your best feet forward. The fact that you were
one of the top candidate. I encourage you
to check out the book Befobones suggested,
it might be available at your local public library.

I know how it feels....I faced a similar situation as a professional hoping to land a certain position for which I've studied 6 years for...I feel beaten down ...and hopeless too..
But I just keep telling myself maybe it's for the best ..everything happens for a reason..but it's not easy to get over the disappointment
Hang in there

Thx guys. I'm feeling more and more down as the time goes by. A nugget of good news is I got another interview at another good school, about 10 min from my hometown. We shall see.

In the meantime, it's a struggle to do anything. Walk the dog, make dinner, get dressed in the am. I have my doc pot tomorrow. I doubt she'll suggest a Med change since this is all relatively new.
