I'm having trouble not only discussing my depression with my therapist, but describing my emotions in any definite terms. How do you describe your depression? Any tips on how to convey this feelings to others?

I usually describe it as a Grey Mist. I use works of art, or music when I can't find the words.

i always describe it as "i don't know!"

no really i do... but we'll usually break it down to smaller pieces. maybe your therapist can do that?

I usually explain my psychological problems, compared them with physical pain. Or looking for songs, poems, which describes the feelings similar to mine. Hold on, you all will be okay!

Using pictures helps me. I'm no gifted artist, but for me stuff like color choices, pressure of the pen/pencil, type of stroke, etc. expresses a lot, at least to *my* therapist, who has a pretty good clue about that kind of thing.

pictures, collages, writing descriptively (whether it seems to make sense or not), relating to a character in a story or other...comparing to something...
