just allow your feelings to be as they are without the tears. accept your sadness and just be with it. if the tears want to come, they will. take care.

I've really disconnected with people and my emotions :-( I will feel sad but can't access the feeling and something funny may cheer me up at times...

I think you need to talk to someone about your experiences. Is there a counselor at your school or a trusted teacher you can open up with? It may be difficult to get control of your feelings by yourself. There may be community support groups near you that you can join. Or there are helplines that you can call and talk. There are forums here on PC that talk about the things you describe. You would get a lot of support from people who have had the same experience in the past. There are social clubs as well where you can open up without fear of being judged.
I hope you talk to someone soon. Post here as often as you want to. We will support you the best we can. |

I go through that sometimes. And then, I go through periods where I can't stop crying. Both (inability to cry and inability to stop crying) are common in depression. Some people (like myself) go through periods of both while others seem to experience one more than the other. If you know you have depression and are speaking to a therapist currently, I recommend bringing this up in therapy. If you aren't speaking to anyone, it might help to do so. A school counselor, close friend, or a pastor/priest if you're religious might help if you cannot afford traditional therapy. If anything, we at PC are here, too and are more than willing to give you as much support as we can if you wish to talk.

I know where you are coming from. I can feel and the tears start to come but they never get passed my eyes. I find the only thing that helps is to be talking to my T and for some reason the tears will then fall.
For years I couldn't cry. Maybe talking to someone in real life will help you get some release. |

I had this happen to me once and blamed it on SI, but I don't think that was true. I wandered around for days with the tears just behind my eyes, but nothing I did could make them come.

I very seldom cry for either sadness or joy although the deep depression always enshrouds me. I have lost the emotions that make people feel. Without being able to feel, it is impossible to cry or to express happiness. My children cannot understsnd how I can be so emotionless and my non reactions hurt them very deeply.
