I deal with a lot between college, money, friends, family, and life in general. I have had depression for a long time but now I am getting bad panic attacks and I have been getting sleepless nights. I see a psychologist and just want to know if there is anyone out there who can give me helpful tips on what to take or do to help ease this.

Hello & Welcome, Court_1219. With your history, the panic attacks and poor sleep are signs of potential danger. How are you doing right now? Do you believe emergency or urgent care is necessary?

My experience tells me that poor, unrefreshing sleep undermines other attempts to treat depression. If your situation permits, get a sleep study done or at least try to practice (or experiment with) good sleep hygiene.

Make yourself at home, Court_1219.

Thank you and I am not doing well. I see my psychologist on the fourth and will speak with him about sleep studies and everything else.

hang in there court..... I know this time of year is extra hard from us Wisconsinites.... always grey skies, cold, shut-in.

There is no easy answer for panic issues (IMO)..... you can try to close your eyes and mentally "go" somewhere safe in your mind. Think of something that you love (warm blankets, puppies, babies, hot chocolate, a beach, a comedian, the sun)... whatever works for you. And FOCUS on that thought until the anxiety backs off a little. Deep breathes work (sometimes) for me.

I hope your day goes better.....

*hugs
