hello everyone, I could really use some feedback.

I've had major depressive episodes since my teenage years (I'm 40) and I'm "in the hole" right now--barely functioning, must force myself to eat something, but it tastes like nothing, struggle to take shower, cannot handle any stress or unfamiliar situations, feel numb and have no desire for anything, even the things I used to love.

I have nothing to give which makes it difficult to be a good friend. Sometimes I don't want to talk to anyone because I get triggered when people say things like "If you indulge your depression, you'll stay depressed." I feel like they're saying I have a choice in this when I'm doing all that I can to survive.

does anyone one have any resources for friends of clinically depressed people?

been here before and I know once my meds kick in I'll feel better and that it may get a little worse before it gets better.

thank you and warm thoughts out to all my fellow depressed people.
