Hi, all. I've been depressed on and off for years, but it wasn't until three years ago that I actually took action. After years of not wanting to be on medication, I started seeing a psychiatrist who prescribed Prozac. And it worked. For a while.
I don't know if it's the season, the fact that I'm massively behind in school, or what, but I feel numb. I don't care about anything anymore. I watch Netflix and get lost in fantasies of being a comedian--something I've always dreamt of doing but haven't taken any concrete steps toward pursuing. The other day I read somewhere that one of the sure signs of depression is that you're having daydreams about things that are wildly out of reach, like overnight superstardom. I do see a therapist and I'm still taking 40mg of prozac each day, but something needs to change. What do you guys recommend? Any medications that have worked particularly well for you? I want to emphasize that I'm not super keen on taking something that is going to make me gain weight. |

Maladaptive daydreaming is not an official symptom of depression. Many other antidepressants have helped with maladaptive daydreaming, here is a page that promotes medical suggestions towards this unofficial diagnosis:
