Hello, I took the stress test and it says i am severely depressed. I don't know what to do.
Briefly, here is a rundown on me: I have a difficult time communicating with others, including family. I feel very withdrawn and do not really want to talk to people. I feel listless most of the time. When I am confronted with an issue, I usually get angry even over really silly things. I hate my job and do not want to interact with my coworkers at all. I do not know how to talk to people in general, and have to psych myself up before going out to a place where there will be lots of people. I feel guilty frequently. I used to love going to the movies or to a concert, but now I feel like i don't have the energy or will to go. I pretty much avoid anything where i would have to be put in a situation where i would have to confront or speak to someone. My wife and i have been together for almost 30 yrs and i do not know what to say to her anymore. She fills all of the empty spaces by talking, so that makes it easier for me. I love her so much, but I am having intimacy issues as well. We have a mortgage and 2 car payments that really stress me out. I worry about that a lot. Insomnia is frequent. I feel trapped at work because of the financial responsibilities at home. I feel like i need to get some help, but don't know where to start, or how to talk to my wife about it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thx |

I think I would look for a therapist. Also, just tell your wife what you just said. That explains it very well.

Sounds like you need to talk to a professional. There are some options you can see a Counselor or Therapist (in the US. look for LCSW, LMSW, PsyD, or any one that is a Psychologists, this may be different in other countries)
Best thing you can do for you right now, is to eat right, get some exercise. It's hard, but it will help. |

Most health insurance companies, will give you a list of therapists, that fall under coverage plans. Can always search them, to see, if one or two sound like a good fit, for you.
Not sure, what I'd recommend, for bringing this up, to your wife. Maybe others have more advice, to add. Welcome, to PC. Sent from my LG-MS910 using Tapatalk 2 |

Reaching out for help is an important first step. It is also the hardest because part of depression is pulling away from people. I also felt trapped in my head; keeping everything inside and feeling weighted down. It was so difficult to ask for help, but I'm glad I finally reach that point.
