I know Pierro. I feel the same. I tried to start a Skype group on here for people to skype each other at Christmas so at least you feel connected to other people at Christmas but nobody seemed interested. Even the Christmas tv is rubbish these days.
Thanks for this!

St. Swithun's Day can be ignored; Christmas can't.

I'm not giving presents, except for the children. I was sick to my stomach seeing the people rioting over TV sets and such. X-mas is not christ's actual birthday, it's become distorted, messed up debacle.

I feel the Christmas pain myself. I have felt Christmas pain for a good many years it seems. I tend to like early December when decorations go up and some enthusiasm about Christmas. But once that day comes around then it's pretty bad for me. It looks like I will be spending it alone again this year, like every year.

There are some painful things about Christmas for me. Such as people asking me what will I be doing and who am I going to be with. I really hate being asked those things. Also there are so many images of lights, glitter, being in love, thrills, and yet I feel like I'm not in any part of those things.

Pierro - looks you are not alone in your feelings from the tone of the replies here.

I've tried to love the holidays, honestly, I have. I spend time with what little family I have left, take a few small gifts to elderly neighbors who are alone much of the year, do volunteer work. It gets me through. But, truth is, when Dec. 25 is over I am relieved.

Hugs.

I'm with you on that. I belong to a PHP and found that when I complained in group about them playing Christmas music that MANY people agreed they didn't like it. Decorations don't bother me a lot, but I hate the music and avoid it at all costs. I also hate presents because I can't afford to buy them for others and feel awful that they spend on me, even when I've asked them not to. Take care.
