Where to start?? I take my 2 & 4 yr old to daycare each weekday morning. Every morning my 4 yo throws an all out tantrum at drop off. We are talking kicking, screaming, arms flailing, on the floor, spitting, throwing anything in reach tantrums. Once he calms down, they say he is great & cooperative the rest of the day. Well, at pick-up today I get asked to come in the director's office to discuss his morning tantrums. She informs me that his morning teacher feels he is a disruption & danger to the other children & herself and wants him expelled from daycare. She then proceeds to tell me that if he throws another tantrum at drop off he WILL be expelled. Any advice on handling this matter would be GREATLY appreciated!
On another note, I thought the interview I had recently went really well, but...it's been over a week and I haven't heard anything. I have pretty much given up hope that I got the job. I've been out of work for 3 months now. I have less than $20 in checking and not quite $2 in savings at this point. Naturally, I have bills just like everyone else...that are not getting paid. Collectors have begun calling. My husband has a decent job, but there is a lot of financial stress. Even with his income we're 'robbing Peter to pay Paul'. I am having serious anxiety about whether we will be able to keep paying the mortgage, utilities, buy groceries, etc.... Top all that with the fact that I don't have a PCP here yet, and I'm getting low on my meds. I certainly don't like to feel dependent on them to stay 'balanced', but I do feel like they take the edge off my anxiety and depression. I fear that I will go over the edge if I'm forced to do without them at this time. I do try to remember my breathing techniques and visualizing to calm myself, but it's not always effective. Sorry this has turned into such a long post! I'm feeling so hopeless and helpless right now that I just want to sleep forever and not have to deal with it all anymore. |

Oh whoaminoone, it sounds like you need a huge hug. Moving, employment and money issues, child concerns ... no wonder you are stressed. My teenage niece used to throw tantrums like you are describing it frightened me for who she might turn out to be but today she is a calm, caring, well-behaved teen. The only advice I have is try not to read too much into your child's behavior ... it doesn't mean you are a bad parent and that this will go on forever.
I know this sounds counterintuitive but you might consider taking a day off from your struggles and create a quiet day for yourself to allow some of the stress to melt away. You need it. ![]() |

Wow. You are facing lots of stressors...
Have you considered talking to someone from social services in your state, county, locality, community (e.g. 211)?
