Anyone been diagnosed with dysthymia (chronic low grade depression) and had success in treating it with meds? Tried meds, but didn't help with the dysthymia?
Tried meds and helped with the dysthymia?
I've tried so many, I seem to be worse on meds than off. My T agrees 100%! But maybe I just haven't found the one that works?
Thank you for sharing.

Hi. I've had dystymyia my whole life without knowing it had a title until a few months ago. I've been on Wellbutrin since late September and I do see a difference. I'm not sure whether to attribute the change to the drugs or the therapy or I'm just learning how to cope better. But whatever the reason, I do feel better about myself lately and that is a really different feeling. This is the first time I've done either therapy or antidepressants, so I can't vouch for how any others work or not, but this seems to with me. I'm hoping for a long term help but any relieft from the crazy, awful stuff is a good thing right now. It's too new to know if anything's going to be permanent. THe pessimist in me says nothings changed before, no matter what I did, why should this be different? But I've never gone this route before and I am thinking it will be better.

I hope you fine something that helps for you meds for dysthymia?

I too have recently been diagnosed with Dysthymia (a personality defect that may have a cure was a shock to me).

I'm also on Wellbutrin, and I like it, as well as Effexor. They were doing well for me for 1 year and half with Doxapin to help me sleep but Doxapin ended it up to be the deficient one in the end, and was a factor in relapse into Major Depressive epsisode. But I'm less than ok with Trorazode as replacement for Doxapin meds for dysthymia?, but still find myself in double depression, so they are thinking of putting me on Remeron for night sleep instead of Torazadone. I'm very hopeful about it since in previous years (whicle the cocktail try-outs were frequent) I liked Remeron, but it didn't address the other issues since it only used by itself.

I also read in "Beating the Blues" that Zoloft seems to be the medication of choice (in combo maybe) for Dysthymia.

Let me know how it turns out.
