Not so much a song as an album, since it all blends into one big story:

Marillion - Misplaced Childhood

The title sounds melodramatic... but it's a very powerful album with almost poetry like lyrics.

Misplaced Childhood was a great album!

Most depressing record of all time? Dream Theater - Six Degree of Inner Turbulence disc 2, i mean the title alone sort of gives it away! Great record and musicianship but holy s*&# is it depressing to listen to!!
Thanks for this!

Wow, I'm a huge Green Day fan! I could really relate to music at times, so here are some songs I related to that describe my depression (or at least I listened to a lot when I was depressed and had emotional reactions to):
Jesus of Suburbia - Green Day
Homecoming - Green Day (especially the nobody likes you part)
Stan - Eminem
In the End - Linkin Park
Otherside - Red Hot Chili Peppers
Who Wrote Holden Caulfield? - Green Day
Restless Heart Syndrome - Green Day
When I Was Young - Blink 182
I might be forgetting some...oh well.
I wouldn't recommend listening to any of these songs while in a bad state. I know for me, it just made me feel even more terrible.

Well not just the tiltle but manic depression by emile autumn on lace/unlace is good she plays her violin so frantically it represents to me how I feel in my head sometimes. the pressure to do better then slow somber sadness when I'm depressed the not knowing what's gonna come next. It's my favorite song to get lost in iust listen to when I close my eyes. Sorry I'm kinda weird

Oh wow, that just reminded me of a small situation that really peed me off

During my forced trip to hospital, my mother got it in her head that the music I listened too was very emotive... so she binned quite a large portion of my cd collection... quite a substantial value amount attached that took me ages to save up for.

If I'd had more energy once I found out, I'd have probably hit the roof... still look back on it with some bemusement.

Fool's Gold by Bree Sharp

The first verse especially resonates with me. I also like America but that doesn't really remind me of my depression, but more the reasons why I get depressed sometimes.

Mine would either be "Scars" or "Leader of The Broken Hearts" by Papa Roach....

That would have to be "Isolation" by Joy Division. Their music was generally doom and gloom (late 1970s) yet they're still popular to this day.

Wow!

I regret that each of you are feeling as I am

I am wondering...what if?????

We were to allow our therapists to hear our songs?

Maybe beneficial or not?
