I had a lot of money stolen, so I'm talking to the police about the situation.

My only experiences with the police in the past are about being taken away somewhere.

So, this is very weird. I know I'm going to fall completely apart when I get home.

I'm pretty unstable, but I guess they're used to robbery victims being unstable. They're being nice. What an unusual experience.

I'm going through some major issues with people in position of power. The first thing I do is tell them I'm not well, I'm having a difficult time. I don't know if it helps, I just like to put it all on the table first in case my behavior raises questions.

First off, don't panic. Stay calm. Things always seem worse than they generally are.

That is really good advice, as it should make it much easier if you need to ask for a break. If you're not sure about anything don't be afraid to say so and get the officer to repeat anything you don't understand or that is unclear. Also you could ask whether there is anyone who can sit in with you and whether there is a victim support program they can put you in touch with. Also don't forget to ask the officer HOW and WHEN the police will update you about the enquiries thay make, you are the victim and you have the right to be kept posted on the outcome of the police investigation.

Starting out by telling the police about your mental health issues may be the best thing that way it can't be used as ammunition against you later by the party who has already victimized you. This way the police are already aware and can't be blindsided by the suspects they will be going after with the allegation that you are a mentally ill individual who does not know reality from fantasy and whatever other typical BS people say about people like us in order to justify their own bad behavior.

Sounds like you were surprised, by niceness. Any leads on your money?
