I'm just devastated. I am on ssd for depression and Medicare won't cover the cost of a life saving medication for me. I am on other meds and this one is the golden ticket that helps my depression the most. It's called geodon. Now I have to go off of it and the results will be a severe depression..I'm.most likely going to be hospitalized for this and I'm terrified. It's like knowing a storm.is coming and I can do nothing to stop it.

Could you guys please pray for me? This med went generic last year so you'd think it's cheaper but nope it's not. Thank you for listening. I don't want to be hospitalized again. I just got stable after a few months of bad depression. Anyone else had this issue with insurance?

My suggestion is to ask Medicare to reconsider and have your prescribing doctor send a letter to them explaining why this specific medication is necessary. I haven't had to do it with Medicare...yet, but I did with my insurer and they paid.

If Medicare doesn't cover it all this might be an option. If not look for drug cards like the one PC has. There are tons and the usually have a price lookup. The pharmacy will store more than one. Mine automatically gives me the lowest price even compared to insurance.

Ask your health care provider if the drug company has a program for low income. They don't advertise those on their websites. I was getting Abilify for free from the drug company. My mental health facility set it up.

You guys make alot of good suggestions. I.can no longer get this med free from the manufacture because it went generic. That's how I used to get it. I like the idea of having my pdoc writing Medicare to see if they'll consider paying for it for me...thank you so much for yr suggestions..it means alot,! I appreciate the support I get here at pc..I.love you guys

I wonder if the drug company bought out the generic company and that is why it is just as expensive. That is a tactic of theirs.

That's a good point. The drug companies want as much money as they can get. I'm so scared. I know it's going to be tough. This drug is they glue to keeping my depression away. I don't want to feel suicidal. I guess I need to take My own advice and pray and pray hard. God can help and I know he wants the best for me. I hope my pdoc can help me. My.other option is zyprexa which worked wonders for me but it made me gain a ton of weight so I got right of it. I.hate gaining weight but who doesn't right? Thx for being here for me. It means more than you know. You all are angels..I wish everyone to be well. If anyone ever needs to talk you can always pm me. Hugs

Actually the link I posted is still good even though there's a generic. One if the restrictions is that Medicare isn't paying for any of it. You'll have to chk the site to see if you match the others.
