Please help me. I was feeling so overwhelmed at my new temp job and told the employer so. The employer decided it was best if we parted ways after me being in training only two days. I feel like a failure and a loser, and I just don't want to exist anymore. What do I do?

Sorry, but I have absolutely nothing to smile about. Smiling/laughing is rare for me these days. Depression is kicking my *****.

You just keep working on yourself. Reach out and talk about your feelings and look for help, ask for help and try to be specific. Often there are no easy answers but we have to try to do something.

Losing a job can be a big blow. I know that when i am seriously depressed there is just no way I can work. Lost my last two very good jobs due to depression. I just could not show up for work.

Sorry you had such a bad time with this job. Not being able to handle this job does not make you a failure. It just means you weren't meant for that job. Keep looking. Find something you will be more comfortable with.

At the beginning of my downward spiral, I had to quit a job that I had just started a few weeks earlier. It was overwhelming. Not a hard job; nothing I wasn't capable of when not so traumatized. Just something I couldn't manage at the time.
I think you need to be gentle with yourself over this. |

Actually agree with Pegasus... though I can appreciate that 'beginning' a new job whilst dealing with mh can be very tiring and stressful: the 'trial period' which in the UK I think is about 6 months is a time where you really have to keep the mask on as you can be dropped so easily like a bad penny.
I'm sorry that this happened to you, but perhaps look at what you can take out of the experience to prepare and fortify yourself for any future employment.

Sorry about the job, don't be too hard on yourself. I'm signed off work at the moment because of depression. I've had my job for ten years and without wanting to boast I'm one of the most experienced in my line of work in Britain. Yet despite that, I was overwhelmed and simply couldn't cope with the most straightforward of tasks that were well below my level of responsibility. I kept screwing up things I had done many times before and my concentration was shot. So it wasn't you, it was the depression and eventually you will be well enough to give things another go.
