How much is rock bottom self esteem part of your depression? I feel like a worthless piece of **** most of the time lately because I'm in this depression and I'm not functioning like a normal person. Anyone else struggle with really poor self esteem? My self esteem was fine before this depressive episode started. I'm just really getting down on myself for feeling like a failure because of my low mood.

Or how about anger - - is that part of your depression? I find myself being really angry lately because of the way my depression is impacting my functioning and relationship with my husband.

I know how you feel. Today all I can do is watch tv. I feel useless. My self esteem is in the garbage. I hate feeling like this. Without my supportive bf I don't know what I'd do. He and my daughter are the only things that bring me happiness. I don't function hardly at all. I'm so sorry yr struggling hun. I can relate cause I don't feel normal either. You are not alone.

Self-deprecation and anger...I know this all too well. A year ago, I had self-confidence, reasons to smile, and a truly happy marriage. Through depression, I feel, as a friend said, married in name only, have little to no self-worth, and have certainly turned this anger towards myself.

regretful, I'm so sorry to hear you're in the same boat. Depression is bad enough, without the elements of poor self esteem and anger thrown in . . .

Perhaps the oldest, and best in my opinion, definition of depression is anger turned towards the self. Hopeful that all of us on this site will one day be able to post a success story.

I very much look forward to being able to post a success story. I dream of that day. It seems so far out of reach and unimaginable . . .
Thanks for this!
