Well - I just came off of a two month leave for anxiety and depression. A couple of days before I was scheduled to go back, I had a psychiatrist appointment. I have also been working with my therapist doing CBT. The pdoc asked me a number of questions about my entire history of depressive episodes, when they occurred, what meds I was taking, for how long, etc. It took a good hour. His conclusion is that I am mildly bipolar, and he prescribed Lamictal. I am continuing to take Effexor and Klonopin as well.

You know what? I think it may be working! It's probably too soon to tell if it has anything to do with the Lamictal, but I've been doing thought replacement and goal-setting for the past month. I actually feel even-keeled, and I don't feel like slapping someone all the time. I hope that this keeps up, but I'm scared to be too optimistic

It sounds really good if you have found a treatment program that is working. Hope it continues. I am happy for you. Good luck

I hope it does too! This is something that I know I'll need to continuously work at. I can't be stubborn and think that I can do without the meds or the therapy just because I think I should be able to stay better with sheer willpower. I've made that mistake in the past.

Yeah that doesn't work out to well.
Stick with what is working.
Lamictal has helped me a great deal too. I was on Effexor but it pooped out years ago but I kept going back to it. I am on Fetzima now and klonopin. so we have pretty close to the same meds and they are really working good for me too. I just did another intake eval at my clinic and I guess i am getting a case manager instead of a therapist.
