The weather today is gorgeous. Sunny. Just the right temperature. But since I don't have anywhere in particular to go and, worse, nobody to do anything with...I just end up resenting days like this. I'm more at ease on a rainy or snowy day, when it's just accepted that people don't go out as much.

I agree. When is sunny outside is as if you must do something interesting and is weird spend your time on the sofa, watching TV, reading a book or doing nothing.
I prefer winter, when Sun falls early and you can waste time. |

Yup. I have actually been known to burst into tears because of a nice, sunny day.

I feel the same way right now. I'm so frustrated at myself though because I can't even get out of bed let alone, go outside & enjoy myself.

I hate beautiful weather since beautiful weather is meant for a beautiful life....to enjoy the nice weather and utilize it. Rain and fog is more suited for me....staying in bed depressed.

It's nice to see people who feel the same. Some friends of mine thinks I am so weird for that. It's a pity for me live in a sunny part of Spain. I would like to live in the north, when always rain. Yeah, I sound weird

I'm the same. I love rainy, stormy days. I think they're beautiful and exciting. Calming, too.

I live at an area where the weather is the best. Lots of sunny, nice days. I've gotten used to it. If I lived in a place where there are lots of cloudy and rainy days, then I would feel depressed on a nice day because I would feel like I squandered it.
At where I am, today has been cool and cloudy. And some drizzle. Pretty unusual for here. But I am very happy because I like that. During the last couple of weeks, it had been dry and hot. I felt more depressed on those days. However, as of now, I have a slight cold. That sucks! So many are getting colds because the weather changes so rapidly; that our bodies can't take it. Also, I feel depressed with the longer daylight. I like the shorter daylight seasons (and cooler) better. |

I secretly can't stand sunny days. For some reason it makes me feel guilty for feeling depressed. When it's rainy and dark I find it comforting...like I don't have to feel bad for laying around. When it's sunny I feel like I'm suppose to be out enjoying it and I don't feel like it. God help me...I hate depression. I wish I felt more full of life.

When I am severely depressed I loathe nice days. It is because everyone is out and spring fever and go to the beach and all that. I only want to hide from it and I am ashamed of that. On cold rainy days I am not so ashamed because no one wants to go out.
If I am not in a depression I love nice days like anyone else would.

It's comforting to know I'm not the only one who feels better on dark, cloudy days. I think I have summer sad (seasonal affective disorder). Feel much better when days get shorter in the Fall.

I'm in a depression now and hate nice weather when I'm by myself during the work week. When I'm with my husband or family, as I was this weekend, I kind of enjoy the sun. The worst, like I said, is when I'm by myself and don't want to do anything by myself so I hole up inside and feel terribly guilty about it.

There is a seasonal cycle aspect to depression for some. I have it. It is not SAD, it is different. Traditionally I could set the calendar by my three times a year cyclical depression. One of them is triggered by the first hot week of spring. That is when I hate the sun.
You don't hear about it much. One pdoc called it a diurnal rhythm. I read one article on it where the doc thought if you took melatonin each afternoon and not at night it would help. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I posted yesterday on this thread and the weather was cloudy and cool. Today, it's totally different. It is dry, sunny, and warm. I came down with a slight cold on Friday and still have a little bit of it. Yesterday was a nice day to be inside, though I was very busy doing errands. Today has be difficult because of still having that cold and being very nice outside. Also I have had a headache. This has not been a very good weekend so far.
I have to mention that I probably got a cold because of the weather changing so rapidly constantly. I've heard that it gets hard on the body. |
