So Sunday morning I woke up and after a couple of hours of being awake, I was like "I think I'm gonna get an Xbox". So all week I've been researching Xbox games and systems to try and find the best deals and prices. I found one, and it's a good deal. We called Gamestop a couple times this week to find out some stuff as well. Yesterday, they said they didn't have an Xbox and were going to get some systems in the store next week. I was planning on going tomorrow, so when I found out I'd have to wait I was a little dissapointed and upset (where the selfish feeling sets in). Well, tonight, my mom called because I told her I was frustrated about it a little, and the Gamestop store ended up getting a better Xbox (a step up from the one I was going to get) and the guy said he'd be more than happy to give it to us for the same price as the other one we were going to buy (where the guilty feeling sets in).
Should I feel guilty? I use Angel Oracle cards and I got cards when I asked them about this like "Reward Yourself" and "Perfect Timing". So that's why I decided to go ahead with this whole thing in the first place. Am I okay to feel excited? Thanks. |

If you've budgeted for the purchase, and it's not just a crazy splurge - I would say don't beat your self up too much. You deserve to be happy and to treat yourself every now and then.
As long as you're being financially responsible about it, a "me gift" is totally acceptable every now and then. I've been doing that kind of thing recently with getting myself clothes from the company I work for. I wait to order till stuff is on clearance, 70% off or better, so I can outfit my family in expensive gear for not a lot of dough. Rather than feeling guilty about buying things that, ostensibly speaking I may not exactly "need", I just focus on the fact that I'm preparing for the future (always buying things out of season) and congratulate myself on the great deal/price I get. Have an awesome weekend! |

Personal perspective: If you can feel excited, feel excited! Sometimes depression makes it difficult or impossible to have such feelings.
I frequently experience guilt spending on myself. The guilt feelings usually present before a purchase rather than after, and sometimes are strong enough to prevent me from making the purchase or delay it. ![]() Depression and anxiety are . . . strange.

Thanks guys. I went yesterday and got the Xbox. At first I didn't think I was gonna like it after I got it all hooked up, but after playing a cool game I found I decided it was worth it.
