There was a super moon over weekend. I have been in the dumps REALLY BAD past couple day's. I know depression sometimes comes harder at times like seasonal depression. I stay depressed but some day's it is a little better than other's. Example if I am having a better depressed day I might take a walk versus bad day I will cry out of control and brain so fogged I cannot even talk or think.

This whole weekend I have really been fighting to do anything besides cry and strongly wanted to go to hospital. But I have pulled threw just in last couple hours while I watched the funniest movie on the shelf.

It just hit me to look up if full moons ore Super moons have mental effects! And yes It does make depression worse. There is 2 more this summer one Aug 10 & Sep 9

Does anybody else feel this added depression from a dang moon?I know this is crazy but also real!! lol

I have heard that more babies are born on full moons. It is a scientific fact they do affect tides. I live in a coastal area and we get coastal flooding on full moons. I dread work on the full moons because people act crazier and more hostile. So yes, I definitely think it can affect depression. I have ups and downs with my depressions too. During the real bad times it feels like I am in a fog. I am glad the distraction of a comic movie helped. When you find anything that helps write it down and go back to that resource. God bless and take care.

i used to think full moons brought out the bad. but then someone noted - the moon is always there, even when you can't see it because it's in the earth's shadow. tides occur all month long - not just during full moon or half moon. so you have psyched yourself to feel bad during full moons. if it were true - you'd feel bad every night all year long. don't let stories influence your behavior.

It seems like the full and new moons effect me a lot. I always felt that the new moons (see my avatar) were worse than the full moons. I believe that there's something to this. Our bodies our made of mostly liquid. If it could effect the tides the way it does, then our bodies are much smaller in comparison. I feel more normal at the other phases, unless something incredible happens.

Being a male, I have a slight joke about the moons for me. When it's a full moon, I have my "period". When it's a new moon, then I have "PMS". I sure feels that way for me.

This weekend was pretty bad and very depressing. And weird. I got some very bad news this weekend (yesterday). So I had been feeling depressed about it. Also feeling weird and funky.

Does the full moon have a higher gravitational effect than other phases of the moon? Is a super moon closer to the earth? I don't know.

I know when I had a full blown manic episode it was a full moon with venus very prevalent next to it in the summer sky. There were medical reasons for that manic episode but when I was in it I was obsessed with the moon and planets. Not unusual for people in full blown manic episodes with psychosis. I have never tracked it with my depression.

I worked in a hospital and s--- hit the fan when the moon was full! I can't think of a single nurse who would argue with that, esp in the ER. Almost every time there was an extra crazy day, I thought, Is it a full moon? Almost every time, it was!

^ Same with police cells, they are always busier during full moons.

It could be something to do with darkness (or less dark nights during the full moon) affecting circadian rhythms. Being from a relatively northern latitude (54 deg north) the nights are very short during summer and springtime (as the nights get shorter) seems to trigger my depression more than the shorter days of winter.

Mine is definitely very seasonal. There are seasonal circadian rhythms. I grew up at 45 degrees north latitude and I think it affects my depression.
