My focus is on treatment and what I need that could help me and I am currently experiencing anhedonia that is there all the time everyday despite the fact that the depression itself is gone.
Now I realize that scientific theories regarding depression and anhedonia are just theories--they are not facts. But I am willing to try supplements and such according to scientific theories to see if they help or not. One of these theories regarding anhedonia is right here: Scientists identify potential target for treating anhedonia - major symptom of depression Since melanocortins might be the problem here, could you give me the name of the supplements and such that I need to take that will address this issue with the melanocortins (like something that will block the MC4 receptor or anything else I need to take that will somehow address this issue with the melanocortins in a different way)? |

I am so glad to hear you are focused on treatment. I am not familiar with what you are talking about but supplements you may want to research and do have some studies and evidence behind them are....
SamE 5HTP Vitamin D L Tryptophan L Methyfolate Fish Oil Melotonin These have all been recommended to me by psychiatrists. I am not good about following up with consistently taking them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I read the article and it is interesting. Stanford is on the cutting edge of these issues a long with John Hopkins and others. I would say it is too new to know which supplements or drugs may effect that circuit. It is another small piece of a very large puzzle. There have been studies on stress hormones contributing to depression. Cortisol and epinephrine.
I would strongly suggest meditation. Exercise Relaxation techniques Anything to reduce stress and the high levels of those hormones. It would not surprise me one bit if meditation has a large impact on the circuit in the study. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
