Sorry to keep posting about all the garbage that goes on at my job. I just always feel the need to vent. Yesterday was bizarre. It started with an office meeting filled with threats and intimidation. We were told the head corporate bosses were coming over and they would "inspect" everything. We were told they would inspect our work areas including going thru our personal belongings and pulling out drawers and cabinets. What actually happened is the corporate bosses came and conducted a training session on lab procedures and keeping logbooks. There was no "inspection." I am tired of the stress, hassle, and the resulting migraine headaches. I am going to apply for a new job online. Wish me luck.

Good Luck! If they were running their ship right daily, when inspection time comes, truly there needn't be much to worry about...
Hope you find something, quickly. |

Good luck with the job search! that sounds like a really stressful and intimidating environment. I would be looking elsewhere also. It surprises me that so many people are under the impression that only fear and intimidation will bring about compliance, when in fact all it does is bring about fear... I'm much more likely to excel where I know I am appreciated and supported than someplace I worry about being in trouble all the time.

My husband said believes they would get more positive results if employees were rewarded for excellent work rather than all this bullying. The only thing coming out of the threats and bullying is that everyone wants to find a job, any job, somewhere else.

If anything in the situation expressed by Waterknob that would not instil fear in me... it would instil a very distinct lack of respect, demotivation and overall cynicism towards their competence which in turn would too make me look for another job while just viewing the manager in question with distain. I think you're doing the right thing Waterknob... might be worthwhile raising the issue with your HR department if you have support from others or speaking to a union rep if you have one.

Good luck with the job hunt.
If anyone checked my locker or desk drawer they would get more than they bargained for. When I last checked they were full of different flavours of tea and coffee, and more non-prescription painkillers and "womens stuff" than Superdrug and Boots combined. It was all in neat little rows, ever so neat, maybe even too neat. My coping mechanism was evidently caffeine and painkillers. |

Good luck Waterknob!! My supervisors use fear and intimidation as a managing tool as well. I don't react well to it and it causes unnecessary stress and anxiety for me. It's not worth it! I hope that you find a company that is worthy of you.
