How can someone open up and seek help? Don't you feel so much worse? It brings things out on the table which causes all your dark thoughts to come out. Following the dark thoughts comes the sh and suicidal thoughts. Which only gets progressively worse.
How can someone do that? Where do you possess the strength for that? Why bother might as well just end it now than wait for it to happen once seeking help. |

When you seek help, you're expecting someone to help you cope with the dark thoughts.
That's why it's important that when you seek help, you ask someone you really trust like a family member, close friend, and maybe eventually a therapist or psychiatrist. |

Bringing things into the light is healing. Keeping them in the dark eats you up.

The truth is I really had to have my butt kicked bad with a combination of drugs, alcohol, and depression before I reached out for help. When I did and laid it all out on the table it was a huge relief.

You don't have to be suicidal, because there are private chats you can have with a counselor. They really helped me because it's an actual person you're talking to that knows what to do to help you. ![]() |

Out of everything said here, what seems to make the most sense is Zinco's statement "When the pain of staying the same exceeds the pain of changing, then we change." It seems to me if we don't take steps, try something for help, we know the suffering will not end. I keep trying different things. Some things work, some don't. I hope you will find something that will help you, and help you find some peace.

It is painful-----------but, like some other painful medical procedures, it might save your life if you tolerate the side effects...
The darkness is there---if you don't walk through it, it will take you by impulsive surprise & that can really be deadly.... And, it will seem, for a time, that all is darkness, but you wait, and you put one foot in front of the other, and some good things, a light shines, as you move through the repeating shadows...
