Good Evening... Concerned about my medication. Iv'e dealt with Major depression for over 20 years. The last few have been very manageable. Just short episodes of anxiety and irritability. I have been taking lexapro for a year and a half. This spring I was starting to struggle so we added Wellbutrin to the mix. I did have an improvement, but am feeling like I am slipping into something unknown. My mood is better and I have a ton more energy, but my memory is GONE! Sometimes I feel like I am on the edge of something that could slide out of control. This is not the time of year I would like to mess with my meds. My depression can be somewhat seasonal. Sorry so long... anyone else ever had these type of conflicting feelings?

Hello, gina_inthewoods. I no longer am hesitant about talking to professionals about my concerns. My suggestion is to talk to your professional.

I wish you well.

I have never had my memory affected by AD's. That is something you should talk to your doc about.

Mine is also very cyclical and seasonal. Even in spring and summer though. I have had many many major episodes in my life. It is a constant battle for me. Many changes in meds. Feeling like being on the edge on things sliding out of control sounds like the sense of impending doom I get with bad anxiety. Even afraid to drive when I get like that for fear something will go wrong.

Wellbutrin is very stimulating, at least for me it was and based on some reading i did it is actually somewhat close in chemical structure to things like adderall. Not sure if lexapro is a more stimulating anti-depressant but its possible that combination might increase anxiety.

I know every anti-depressant i have tried thus far ends up increasing my anxiety...though seems like the one was working ok for you, but being on two stimulating meds(provided lexapro is one) could certainly problematic....either way I'd talk to your doctor about your concerns though.

Lexapro is not stimulating but Wellbutrin certainly is. In combination who knows what effects that may have.

I could not tolerate Wellbutrin as I felt like I was doing lines of Meth Amphetamine all day. Given my history you would think I would have liked that but it was to much. Even though I was a meth head at one time years ago i do not like that feeling anymore. Increased energy is great but not wired out of my mind.

I have taken adderall a few times for non medicinal reasons here and there(not advocating people do that) never touched meth though don't plan to either and enjoyed that sensation except the time I was up 5 days continously taking it for the first 4(wont get into how, why and all that of it right now). But when I tried wellbutrin it felt like that including the lack of sleep(even though I was getting sleep) 10x without the mood lift/euphoria(which I was not comfortable saying to the psychiatrist)...it also effected things like coordination.

Thanks for everyone's replies! Have a call in to my doc, the wait and see is hard, but I know that whatever happens she has my best interest in mind. I just have never had such odd side effects.
