I feel like crying all the time, my mood is always down. I have no one to help me. I want to go to the doctors but i live in a small town and my doctor is a family friend.

Next year big events are happening... i should be happy but im not. Im not excited or looking forward to them. HELP.

It may be important to find and talk to a professional. Only a professional will be able to assess whether you're experiencing a major depression or if something else is going on. This can be hard in a small town. If you look online, you can even find phone counseling and similar services.

It's certainly possible to find ways to feel better. But at the same time, there's nothing wrong with crying all the time. Feeling sad isn't wrong. It may be uncomfortable, but it's important that you're expressing those feelings so that they don't bottle up. This could be something major, or it could be something minor, again it would be best to have a professional determine that for you.

And finding support, like on this forum, can help as well. Is there anything in particular that makes you feel down?

You know that your Dr. would never divulge any thing about your depression to your family. You could initially voice your concerns to him and maybe get a referral?

I say go to your doctor and trust him. A good doctor wants what is best for you and would never tell anyone.

See your doctor. What's the worst that could happen? Doctors see plenty of depression patients. No need to be embarrassed. Plus all you say is confidential. You won't be judged and I'm sure you won't be his first patient suffering from depression. I'd bet on it. Go.

I would either go to your regular doc and get a referral or look online for a doc you can see. If you need help you should seek it. Don't be ashamed. Doctors are there to help us and they have seen folks with depression issues before. Best of wishes and hope you feel better soon.
