So...something has kind of bothered me, and I want to get it off my chest. This will probably be a little different from most of the other posts that have been made on here, so if you disagree with me, please be kind about it.
I'm just like everyone else. I have hopes, dreams, morals, values...I know what those things are. Some people believe that we have those things because a god gave it to them, and other dont believe that. Including me. I believe that I get my ideas and morals and everything from the world around me. What i really want to say is that I dont need God (or any deity) to get better. I dont feel like spirituality will help me through anxiety or depression. It frustrates me when people think that I feel depressed or angry because I dont believe in a God. That is not true. I'm sorry if you feel angry about my beliefs, but your anger wont change anything.

Those kind of people were attempting to control you. Religion is all about control. You can be spiritual and not have a formal Religion.
Depression has nothing to do with faith or an entity. For some, faith helps them cope with depression. Some need that faith to heal. Your path was a good one, a path of healing and willingness to Learn from all people and things. Good work! |

I wouldn't say religion is all about control. I think definitely some religions are that way. Others are more about support and community or "togetherness." That can be just as important to some people's faith as individual spirituality.
And Izzyfg2000, it sounds like you feel judged by others who condemn you for now experiencing their faith. I'm really sorry for that. We shouldn't be doing this anymore, and yet it happens every day. Honestly, you don't need any certain thing to get better. There are plenty of things out there that can help, but what really helps for the individual is just a unique as the individual herself. Find what works for you, and don't let others pressure you into feeling it's a certain faith if that doesn't fit for you. At least you can know that you're supported here. ![]() |

"Togetherness" is the key component in the religious control formula.

Wish I can give comments on religion but I'd rather not to because of the FORUM rule: "No religious talk whatsoever is allowed here in this specific forum, including but not limited to church, clergy, the Bible, etc. Thank you." Please read above in green.
Anyway, we all have different beliefs, what works for you that makes you happy is what we respect and hope that everybody around you respects your belief. |

I think we are within the parameters of this topic. No one is quoting scripture or mentioning a specific church or promoting a religion. This is a generalized discussion.
