I'm a single 48 year old male, so sex for me is not terribly exciting - just me fapping once a week. It seems to help with depression. I don't have much sex drive, but sometimes I feel depressed in spite of exercising daily. If I have sex once a week, then I don't feel as depressed.

Anyway, last week I had a thunderclap headache while fapping. At first I wondered if I was going to die, but then it became a normal headache that lasted about a day. A few days later I started to have a headache in the same spot while fapping (top of my forehead), so that concerned me.

My sister is an MD, and she told me some thunderclap headaches are a warning sign of brain bleeds. My sister asked if I was exerting myself, and I fibbed and said "no". I think if my sister had known that I actually was exerting myself, then she would have been even more concerned about a brain bleed.

I have thought about going to my doctor to see if they might do a CT scan, but I suspect he will dismiss my concerns. There are harmless sexual headaches, but they apparently happen at the base of the skull, so I don't think this was a sexual headache.

So I'm not sure what to do. I suppose I need to try the doctor even though I am skeptical. I actually like the idea of dying quickly from a brain bleed, but I don't want to die with my pants down. (Sorry bad joke.)

Any ideas?

Well you got two choices.

Quit fapping. Not a great option.

Go get an MRI to be on the safe side.

I think it might be a great way to go actually. Would kind of feel bad for my partner though.

PS- never heard it called fapping.....lol

Have you had your blood pressure and cholesterol and stuff like that checked? Why not go get a physical? Youre too young to start restricting your life. Maybe all you need is a better diet and a little exercise - but i would get it checked out first.

Oh i see you allready exercise. Sorry. Get checked anyway!!

definitely see your doctor...

but just an fyi....i went to the doctor, he said i had all the symptoms of a brain bleed, but because the symptoms had been occurring for more than a week, it would have already killed me by that point...to be on the safe side, they sent me straight to the er...contrast and no-contrast mri of head, c-spine mri, various neurological tests, lab tests....and tada...everything was normal...it was a huge relief just to hear that all the tests were normal...

not sure if this helps, but go see your doctor please, if nothing else it might ease your concern...and let you keep fapping without worry (never heard that term before either)

Definitely check it out. It doesn't matter what you're doing. It matters that you're in pain in a particular area every time.

Thanks, everybody. I like the term "fapping" too. I heard it the first time about a year ago I think.

The thunderclap headache was a week ago on Thursday. It was excruciatingly painful like times when I've accidentally banged my head on a cabinet door while standing up. I thought I remembered that the brain cannot feel pain, so I assumed it must not be in the brain. Then I mentioned it to my sister on Sunday, and became more concerned.

I suppose I would be dead now after a week if it was a brain bleed. I'm worried that there is a blood vessel that is weak. Maybe the chemicals associated with an erection cause that blood vessel to dilate.

I have jury duty next week, so I can't make a doctor's appointment. I fully expect the doctor to pat me on my head and tell me I need to take antidepressants. That is what always happens. If I say my joints hurt, then it is because I don't take antidepressants. If I say I feel nauseated after exercise, then it is because I don't take antidepressants. It's all in my head, and I'm a hypochondriac. That's why I hate going to the doctor.

I figure if fapping makes my head hurt, then I need to stop fapping. It would be easier to abstain from sex, if I had some medical exams to back-up my concerns. That's what I hope to achieve by going to the doctor. If they tell me to stop riding my exercise bike, then I will ignore them. Exercising is the only thing that helps with depression for me. I would rather take my chances than give it up.

Thanks, I have been reading more about sexual headaches, and maybe that's all it is. Apparently they often go away naturally in a few weeks.
