This year I've missed so much school because of my depression, and I have detentions piling up because of unexcused absences. I know the most obvious solution is to just go to school, but sometimes that's just not an option for me. My schizophrenia has been making me very depressed lately and it just gets harder and harder to get out of bed. My mom doesn't really care but my principal and English teacher do. A while back I promised my English teacher that I would try not to miss so much school so often, but the thought of school just makes me want to jump off the roof. I didn't go today either, even though I had another detention after school. I know I will have two more waiting for me when and if I do decide to go back. I asked my mom to let me do online school but she said that "everyone hates school, you're no different" and now I just don't know what to do. Please help

It sounds like you have a diagnosis so are you on meds or in counseling? If you are I don't think your mother really understands how things are for you. Maybe you could get your pdoc or T to talk with her about it. Does your school have a counselor you can talk to about the reason for the absences? It would help if the school understood that you have issues and maybe the school counselor could also talk to you mom about things.

I am having the same problem. I actually just posted something about online school before I read this. I have been missing a lot of school and it is becoming a problem. I am so behind and failing my classes. I asked about online schooling and my parents said they are going to try to do more research and see if it would help me out more. My school counselor said she is concerned about how it would affect me socially and emotionally. I really hope they let me do this.

Try to look at up the pros and cons and the different programs and then show the information to your mom. Maybe once she sees how it can help you she will consider it.
