Awwwww I am so sorry. I know nothing can compare to your friend who is gone.. But maybe.. You need.. A puppy! Lol.
I just got a puppy and he makes me very happy. I have to admit though, it took me five years from the time my last dog ran away to get this puppy. Should of done it sooner.. But this puppy was meant to be.. Anyways I'm sorry and you can pm me if you need someone to talk to! |

I'm so sorry. I lost a dog last year, and I'm currently losing my two beloved guinea pigs. It's so rough. They are basically a part of us, and it rips us apart to have them go. I'm sorry.
Try and keep yourself busy, don't fall into the "sleep all the time" stage, which is where I usually get stuck. Is upping your meds a posibility? Take care |

Pets can be like people to many pet people. It depends how long you are grieving. If your gut is telling you that you need to air it out with a T, its a great way to get comfort.
Pets are particularly hard to grieve for. People don't take it very seriously. No one expects you to take some time off for mourning. They even make jokes, or immediately talk about replacing them! |

I don't know the answer to your question but wanted to let you know I'm sorry you lost your dog. Don't let anyone minimize how important our animal friends are to us. Take care.

Hi Checkers-I'm so sorry for the loss of your furry friend. My dog of almost 17 years passed away 8 years ago & it was very difficult for me to deal with it. This loss could make your depressive symptoms worse so you should probably get in touch with either your pdoc or tdoc. Please keep posting here as there is a lot of support on this forum. Take care

I'm so sorry to hear about your dog.
My animals are my "babies". Can you make a photo book or a collage book with pictures of your dog in it as a forever keepsake? |

I used to have a cat. Oscar. He was an amazing cat, and so beautiful. He never really liked me as much, he loved my mom. On his last day on earth, i was with him, I cried like a baby as he struggled. I put my hand on his paw, and he reached over and licked my finger. I'll never forget that.
He was in my life for a short year. After his passing, I cried all day. I cried myself to sleep several times throughout the day, after waking up through the sleep cycles, I would go over to him (we left him on a blanket, and didn't move him till later that night, I didn't just want to dispose of his body immediately) and I would put my hand on him. I would just think 'I cannot believe you're gone. This is a dream'. How I think of an animals life, is that as long as you gave your pet the best life, nothing else matters. What you need to do is get another pet. Make another living animal's life the best it can be. Some people say that they can never get another pet. But in reality, getting another pet is the best thing, both for you, and that animal. When my two dogs (i'll refer them to; my 'girls' as they're sisters) die, I plan on getting another 2-3 dogs. But they will always be my girls. I have no idea how i'll handle their death. Just thinking about it is devastating. It'll get better, but you should consider getting another animal. That way, you're not so sad. Ill never go my life without a pet. but i cannot wait to see my girls who have been at my moms house as I've been away for the past 7 months.

A loss of a pet is heartbreaking and depressing. I know when I lose a pet it's like the bottom of my world drops out. I've had many and have lost many. Some hurt worse than other but the pain is always bad. Give yourself some time because it's quite normal to feel depressed after a loss. Be gentle with yourself.
