My T is changing jobs... so today she saw me for the last time. She's the first ever who's really "seen" me. I didn't have to explain everything for her to get it. I feel very emotional tonight anxious about how things will turn out with the new T I'll start seeing at the end of next month. To go through difficult things I carry inside with yet another person...
She didn't plan it in advance, but at the end of us doing this mindfulness exercise she gave me one of her bracelets. Why? As a symbol for me to look at, reminding me to go to my internal "safe place". At the moment I feel so overwhelmed with sadness. |

Hi SadNEmpty, I can imagine it must be quite a loss for you to have her leave, I'm sorry
![]() But you know the fact that she really "saw" you does say as much about you too........the fact that you opened up to her, let her in, let her "see" you. Now I know that all that may be really hard to do again with a new T at first, and it is probably going to take time, but hopefully they are going to be as experienced, as supportive in helping you do that........and from their experience and understanding as skilled at "seeing" you. And you know, you can help them with that too by telling them some of the things your T did/some of the things you did together that helped/that felt important to you. I know that probably doesn't help much with the sense of loss you probably have right now but maybe use some time to reflect back on some of the important aspects of your sessions, the progress you made, what you gained from your T/from the sessions and try to hold on to all of that.........and of course your internal "safe place" ![]() It's completely understandable that you'll have a sense of sadness but try to take with you/keep the sense of "good"/"fulfilling" things that came from her/your sessions too, hey?? ![]() Alison |
