Is it something like a checklist? A list of goals?
Do you consider how well you cope with each activity or how many tasks you complete each day? |

For me it has to do with how much I can do in a day. I haven't been functioning well for about 4 years now or more.

I usually measure it by what I get done in a day. I measure my depression in general by my level of enjoyment though, and motivation. Although I get things done in a day lately, my mood remains somewhat down and I have to really push myself to get things done usually.

I measure it by how easily I can make myself eat, take a shower, and do what I need to do for class.

If I can get out of bed and into some clothes, then I'm functioning. I usually manage this, though sometimes it is hard. I con my self into doing things that I don't want to by imagining something bad happening if I don't do whatever task I set myself. I guess that is how I measure functioning, by how much persuasion I have to use on myself.

I think this is a great question! I give this a lot of thought because I tend to be really down on myself for not getting enough accomplished. Lately I have just been trying to give myself credit when I can push through it enough to get a handful of things done. Folding a load of clothes, opening the mail, you should give yourself credit for those kinds of things. Let yourself rest inbetween if you need to. Break everything into little steps if you need to and do one step at a time if that helps. Focus on one thing at a time so you won't feel overwhelmed. Just give yourself a break and do the best you can.
