Hey I live in Massachusetts and I currently suffer from depression. After what seemed like forever I told my parents how I feel and she made an appointment with my personal doctor. And after what seemed like an even greater ammount of time I was in the doctor's office. We talked and she said that I should see a therapist and asked if I wanted medication. The truth is I did, but I have a problem asking for it. I can't even take tylenol without first asking my mom if it's okay. So I told my doctor that I was unsure and that I just wanted something that will get me through the day without feeling so crappy. So, the doctor printed out some information and she gave it to me and said to call her when I've made a decision. The next day (yesterday) I skipped school, which has sort of become a habit (missed 5 days in the last 3 weeks), and I called the office and left her a message saying that I talked it over with my mom and we feel that medication would be a good option. Later that day, my mom found out that I had been cutting myself, or "self injuring" she immediately called the doctor. The doctor told my mom to call the therapist's office. she did and said that it was urgent that they call back. Today after school, I asked her when I would be receiving my medication and she said that I have to wait until I see the therapist. I know that it's going to take a while, but my question is about how long can I expect to wait for them to call back and how long can I expect to wait for my appointment?

Ah, waiting for the return call. Usually, by the next day they call. They call after they've seen their patients for the day, if not inbetween appointments. As for an opening to be seen, I wouldn't know but hopefully within just a few days, she/he can see you.

If she/he hasn't called back after a day and a half, I would ask your mother to please leave another message. Maybe something prevented the first message from getting through.

((((((((((((perfectly))))))))))))

You will get the call very soon and an appointment as soon as they can. You are doing a great job of communicating your needs to your doctor and your Mom. The therapist will be able to help the doctor decide which med is right for you. Hang in there, you are doing all the right things. Stay safe.

Well, that sucks!!! And right when the weekend's here, too!

I'm glad your mom is calling around tho--I'm sure she'll be able to find someone to see you soon. Meanwhile hang in there, I know how hard waiting is, but you and your mom are doing all you can to get the help you need.

I know about the waiting tho--I have zero patience myself! A question to anyone who lives in the US...

Wishing you luck and please let us know how it goes!! : )

My mom called them all and they said 4-6 weeks, so she called my personal doctor and left a message saying that no one's willing to take me soon enough and to call her back. I just hope that my personal doctor calls back and just gives me perscription for something, anything. I know I can't wait another 4-6 weeks. A question to anyone who lives in the US...
