New here...now ready to talk

Hi all! I am a 34 year old man, married with 2 kids and teach 4th grade math/science. I have been battling depression for as long as I can remember. Only now I have accepted it and am ready to talk about it. I have a wonderful family, nice things and a great job...don't get this depression. I was just put on Cymbalta 60mg and wondering if anyone has had success on it. Thanks

I have been on Cymbalta for six years now. It has been the only antidepressant that has worked for me. Also it helps me deal with my chronic pain issue.

Hi Timetoshine, and welcome to pc. We are glad you are here. A child will remember a good teacher for life. I am 53 and I still happily remember my favorite teacher. She was my third grade teacher. My mother taught 4th through 6th grades for many years.

Depression is a hard thing to deal with. I have battled it for a long time too. I am hoping Cymbalta works well for you. I have never been on this medication. I have taken Prozac, celexa, wellbutrin with mixed results. I am also on amitriptyline but this was prescribed for migraines.

That's so good to hear. I have been on Celexa for the past 5 years, but it didn't seem to be working anymore. Thank you for responding

Timetoshine, I was on Celexa and Wellbutrin together and that was also not effective. I sincerely hope the Cymbalta works!
