I'm 16 and have been battling depression since I was 13. In these past six months I have been hospitalized 4 times for being suicidal. Now my parents are considering a residential place for me to get more treatment. I am terrified of the idea and idk I guess I want your input. What do you think of the idea? Have any of you ever been to a residential treatment?

I've been in a residential facility for teens for a period of 9 months (Suday evening till Friday afternoon: weekends home). I had to leave because I became suicidal.
Residential gave me the support I needed to start EMDR therapy and pick up some of the pieces of my life. But it wasn't the cure-all I'd hoped it'd be. I hope that whatever you end up doing helps you. |

I haven't... But I think it could be helpful (it's IMO better than the issues and "illnesses" being "ignored" as was more likely to be the case in less enlightened and more "barbaric" days... Keep in touch here, k?
