My mother just lost her mom last month and she's doing okay- better than I thought...but she's struggling with sleep apnea and only getting 4-5 hrs of sleep a night if she's lucky. Anyhow, she's only showering every 2-3 days and not cleaning the house. She doesn't do much of anything all day- she's home and retired so it's just her and the dogs all day until my dad comes home.

I don't think shes super depressed but just lazy and it's her lifestyle. I'm paranoid I'm going to be like her. I don't wanna be like her. She just doesn't have anything in her life right now. It's sad. I just try and convince myself I'm not going to end up like her.

She's a sweet woman and would give u the clothes off her back. But I want more than just hanging around all day in my pjs. I'm afraid I'm headed to be like her.

It's most likely you won't end up like her if you are aware of what her life is like now. You are not your mom, so it's not an imperative you follow in her footsteps. You are your own person

I agree. Your concern to avoid that situation reduces its chances of occurring. Both consciously and unconsciously your mind will be observing and working on courses of action to reach an alternative future.

Wishing you insight, strength and decisiveness.

That sounds exactly like my lifestyle right now
I'm off work right now due to my anxiety and depression.

Sorry I don't have anything more helpful to add
