I have been struggling with my mood for the last couple of months. My pdoc raised the dosage of abilify and i just started hormone replacement therapy to see if that helps. Yesterday I felt really bad and kept crying for no reason. Today started off rocky but by mid morning the black cloud seemed to leave. I even went out for a mountain bike ride tonight.
I don't remember ever going from that bad to pretty ok in one day.
Has that happened to any of you?

I don't know about those meds but there are lifestyle changes that I use to help keep on a stabler footing.

I have to watch what I eat because foods I eat can stabilize my moods or exaggerate them. A high protein low carb diet with snacks or meals every 3-4 hours will over time reduce my swings. I also avoid alcohol and recreational drugs because those can really increase depression.

Other lifestyle changes that help me are doing yoga, exercises, mindfulness, calm music, and being active on Psych Central.

PC has helped me find other people that can empathize with me and help provide insights and info. Many people who are actively involved in Psych Central find it helps take them out of their own problems to develop empathy for others. And their problems though still there are more manageable.

There are lots of compassionate people here that can make the load lighter by sharing and caring. Feel free to participate actively at Psych Central. Some people find the forums give them the compassion and empathy they seek. http://forums.psychcentral.com

I've been having mood swings lately, mostly going from feeling just okay to being extremely grumpy with everything p!ssing me off. We just moved to a new house a week and a half ago, so I'm hoping that the stress and exhaustion from moving is whats causing it and it will go away soon.

My moods swing like London in 1967. I can go in the space of a day from despairing to optimistic to happy to miserable, sometimes with barely any space in between. I suspect the only way to cope is to accept the way I feel as if it was like the weather and something I can't do anything about.

Yeah, I can have many mood swings throughout the day. Sometimes they're triggered by something (often tiny and insignificant), and sometimes there is no obvious cause.

Curious. What made you want to move?
