I managed a few minutes of self-care....took a very quick but cleansing bath....couldn't deal with washing my hair but at least my body is clean. I also drank a small glass of orange juice.

I quit drinking on April 27th and I'm in a depression....but sober.

I hadn't bathed since last Wednesday so that was a bit of a victory for me. Sad, really.

Thanks for this rainday,

It's very inspiring - because truly when I am depressed sometimes I forget that its these self care strategies that truly do make a difference.

Congratulations on being sober since 27 April - that's really awesome!

Don't worry about when last you bathed - that's irrelevant - what's relevant is that you are moving forward and making progress.

Keep moving forward; you can do this.

Hi rainyday,
That sounds like a really big achievement for you so KUDOS!!!!
It can be so easy to write of achievements, thinking you "should" be doing them anyway, or you "should" be doing more...........but sometimes it can be the equivalent of climbing a mountain "just" to brush your teeth, so make sure you're giving yourself all the credit you deserve!!! And WELL DONE!!!
And you quit drinking on the 27th!!!! Congratulations on 3 weeks!!!!!
Of course a trigger for depression to step (further?) in, but no forgetting we're here if we can support you with that. You're not on your own.
