music is actually bad for you when you are hurting because it overstimulates your brain and makes you think even more about stuff = feel worse, and sure the beauty of the rhythm may feel soothing, but its more of a "pleasure in pain" deal.

When I need a boost, I just listen to something loud and angry, and it usually puts me in a chipper mood, oddly enough.

Have your guys preferred music genre change when in depression? I mean I've been in depression for most of my life but there were some years where it was manageable. But the last few years where it was probably the worst, I've been listening to completely different type of music.
