Hi folks,

As a favor to a national woman's magazine, I'm trying to help them in a very specific request they recently put to me. They're seeking a woman who is currently:
<ul>[*]Suffering from depression[*]Has no insurance coverage[*]Is getting treatment or has sought treatment for the depression[*]Between the ages of 20 and 40[/list]If you are such a person and would be interested in having your story briefly told (this is part of a larger article about insurance coverage, I believe), please email me:

talkback@psychcentral.com

Thanks!
DocJohn

When I read the subject line, I thought...jeepers, and I thought Doc was married!

I emailed you yesterday but I'm not sure if i got it right, so I just wanted to leave a reply on here. I am 20 years old and i've been suffering from major depression since i was 11. I got kicked off of my parents insurance last year (Jaunuary) and it's been a struggle ever since. No one wanted to help me. I can't seem to get medicaid. And after being hospitalized in July last year I finally found a group that my county will pay for, however if I get a job i will be over the income limit, because i live with my parents their income is considered and they make barely under it. It's actually a kind of long story but I would be willing to help out and share. If you'd like to talk more my email is carmenveronica84@yahoo.com

Thanks,
Carmen

I am a very recently unemployed, 32-year-old, married, mother of one in the Puget Sound area. This is my first visit to the site, and your posting has hit on the exact reason I am online tonight. I was diagnosed at 18 with major depression and placed on Prozac, which I have taken off-and-on ever since. I do not believe I have ever been diagnosed properly or completely, as the Prozac does not even begin to help many of the mental and emotional problems I suffer from on a daily basis -- problems so severe that I have been unable to hold-down a job for any great length of time. Due to this, I do not have medical insurance, and haven't for well over a year now. My husband works and earns a decent income (too much for us to qualify for assistance) however we are unable to afford the psychological treatment I so desperately need due to wage garnishments resulting from the large debt we are currently in because of past medical bills, most of which can be attributed to my mental disorder(s). It is a horrifying predicament that I find myself in... If my story would be useful to your project, I would be happy to share.

Actually, I don't think he gets any big bucks, really. Maybe little bucks from the various ads around the site to help pay for site expenses. If I'm wrong, maybe he'll post.

It seems that I would qualify. I do meet those criteria. My main probs are PTSD, ED and adjustment. In adjustment, stress pretty much comes out in my eating habits, depression, or anxiety. Or maybe a mix of all three, LOL. Something to think about.

heheheh it's a joke. usually those who do the most don't ever make any money doing it... it's an equally effective comment when working with volunteers, who get no pay at all....
