Hi....Navigating this site is exhausting. Recently diagnosed with depression. Not even sure what I'm looking for here, joining a forum seemed a wise thing to do, since I don't know anyone else like this.

I have found it hard to know anyone diagnosed with depression outside forums as well and i was initially treated about 18 years ago. Its a shame I think as those without ever suffering depression struggle to understand us and can't tell us when we are slipping back towards the blackness. Even just the companionship would have been useful as many of us here end up with nobody. Although there are people here with their own reasons you will find support and understanding from most. My advice is to seek out as much information as you can on depression since you are newly disgnosed. Read widely. Do not take just one view as the absolute truth. Its a complex condition that canbe treated.

Hi mkyj, thank you for posting here. I found it hard to navigate to start with as my computer skills are woeful and I haven't been anywhere like this before. I find the Forum jump helps me, you'll find it at the bottom of this and most other pages, click on it and choose a topic you fancy. I mainly stick to quizzes and forums as I find chat rooms hard to follow and don't keep up. The Community Liaison people helped me a lot with this in the early days. Find someone who has posted on a thread with that title and click on their name. Then click on 'private message' and ask anything you want and they will do their best to help. If you want you can private message me in the same way and I will help if I can. Best of luck, don't give up on us.

thank you all for the warm welcome. I'm gradually finding my way around here....
This feels like a mental and emotional death sentence. So much to process, so overwhelming. It's slightly comforting to know someone/s somewhere understands the chaos in my head.
