This song really makes me think of battling depression.

Do you remember your coming down
Forced to take sides?
(Do you remember that you were not always depressed, do you remember the experienced of slipping into depression, remember a time when you weren't choosing between life and death? Many people with depression feel that things have always been that way and lose sight of when things were good or okay.)

Your taunted charm and your broken smile
Touched me unexpectedly

(Singer notes the fake displays of happiness that are trying to mask the depression behind them.)

So long
So long you've waited in line
Desire is a gift in life

(Having been depressed for so long, the desire to make it out is the only thing keeping the person alive and going.)

So long
So long you've left and arrived
It's time for you to stay a while

(For so long the person has slipped in and out of depression, they deserve to finally "stay a while" in stability, out of depression.)

If you chose life
You know what the fear is like if
You welcome addiction
This is your kingdom

(Most people do not ever have to "choose" life. It is a natural thing for most people to simply live. Many depressed people must make a conscious choice to stay alive, which often comes with the terrible fear that things will never get better. Making life much like an addiction.)

Your fight for power
For memories, answers and signs
Will bring you through the dark to light
Clear and redefined

(Raw instincts must often kick in to save the person with depression, their mind opens in a frantic effort, fighting for power of the disorder, and desperately seeking out meanings and reasons behind the all of the many Why?s Many people with depression grow wiser and stronger, and it shows once they come out the other side)

Too long
Too long I waste for these
Emotionally sucking life
Too long
Too long, you waste and writhe
It's time for you to recognize

(It's time to recognize just how strong people with depression are, how tough their fight is and that it's time to demand better quality of life and proper treatment for them. Ultimately they themselves must realize this, too.)

If you chose life
You know what the fear is like if
You welcome addiction
This is your kingdom

If you chose life
You know what the fear is like if
You welcome addiction
This is your kingdom

What songs remind you of the struggle with depression?

REM - Everybody Hurts

When your day is long
And the night, the night is yours alone
When you're sure you've had enough
Of this life, well hang on

Much of the music of Pink Floyd engages me when I am depressed even though the complex themes are about far more than just depression.

i like to listen to superchick songs.

some of them have really good messages in them

stand in the rain, for instance. it's saying that 1 day all that is lost will be found. so just stand in the rain. it won't last forever

same for hero

i know the context of the song is about you can be a hero.. you can save lives. but you can be a hero in any respect.

it's those songs i like to listen too because it gives me hope

How about Blue Oyster Cult's "Don't fear the reaper". Awesome tune.
