Hey guys, so I've been waiting on this surgery coming up next Tuesday for 3 months now and it's finally oh so close, but I'm nervous and scared...I'm scared I might not make it, even though it's not that big of a procedure(I have gynecomastia[man boobs]) and going under anesthesia, but I have never been under it and it scares me. I worry I won't wake up. Or I'll be awake and feel the whole thing. Although when I was born I was born premature 3 months at 1lb 61/2oz and was under anesthesia for surgeries I had as a baby, but nothing I can remember but idk I'm just scared but also excited it's weird...

hi JD

Since you had anesthesia as a baby and had no trouble going through it. there is nothing to be afraid of. This procedure is something that the surgeons are very well practiced in and will go okay. Just keep reassuring yourself with that certainty. I hope and pray it goes okay for you. Have a really great day. God bless and best wishes from your friend Francis

I hear you, I have a huge fear of surgery and anesthesia! But you should be fine, such complications are very rare. The best thing to do is just to voice these fears with your doctor, the nurses, and if possible, the anesthesiologist. These sorts of worries are quite common, and they'll know how to deal with it. I think before most surgeries patients are given a mild tranquilizer or sedative to help quell such anxieties.

So good luck and hope you have a quick recovery! Let us know how it goes

Good Luck JD. Have you taken Risperdal by any chance? There's a big story about Risperdal causing man boobs in the huffington post

You will be fine. I have had surgery a few times and woke up each time! Try to think positive thoughts. All will be well.

It can be scary going under. Especially if it is your technically your first time, but like everyone else is saying you should be good to go! I now in my case they gave me something that calmed me down, and eased my anxiety.

For those still giving me feed back I really appreciate it, but didn't update you guys that it ended up being cancelled...they found some off numbers in my bloodwork and I have to see an endocrinologist to see what's wrong
