I am like night and day difference from last week when I was so depressed I hurt myself.

Why? Well I ran into my ex - but I don't credit my mood change so much with that.

Every morning for the last 4 days I have gotten up early and run my errands at the crack of dawn. Though I have had to force myself to do so, I have done things like walk to my grocery store. Anyway, my days have suddenly improved with the satisfaction of having done something good for myself. Better than any therapy. I honestly feel better. People around me have noticed.

Sometimes with depression, something can change (maybe you just had a good night's sleep or something like that) and it can lead to another positive thing and then to another and then suddenly you find yourself in a much better place.

Of course, it can go the other direction too, which is terribly frustrating.

I tend to ask myself "what's different", too, when I have a sudden mood change, but I'm not always able to figure out what changed.

I'd say just grab it and go with it. I'm glad you're feeling somewhat better.

Rcat, it sounds like the exercise and breaking ones routine to something different no matter how small can affect ones mood and outlook on life. It sounds like you are doing positive affirmation without realizing it. Good job, keep it up. And welcome to PC.

That's awesome! Being able to "do things," even when I have to force myself, is a sure sign I'm coming out of depression. The satisfaction of doing something good for ourselves is better than any therapy. I'm so glad you are feeling better!
