This week all my depression / suicide attempts became known to my parents..... Weird... I am almost 50 years old and I still feel like a kid sometimes.

Scolded for attempting suicide in the past. Yup - scolding - THAT will help (roll eyes). And they wonder why I did not want to tell them.

geez

No need to answer my nosy questions...

Wishing you a happy birthday!

I've never told my dad about my issues for several reasons. First being he has always been in denial about the damage he has done to me and mine. No way would he understand how I feel or why. Second, he would never understand the mechanics of MI or even try. Third, what's in my mind is MINE and mine to share with who I want to. And I know who to share with and who not to trust.

How did your issues become known to your parents? Surely your doc didn't tell them?

BTW., I am a 57 year old kid. lol

I kind of blurted it out after being attacked for "not visiting enough". Then when my anxiety issues and suicidal issues came out; the conversation morphed into "well I suppose I (mother) caused this?"

I kept the extent of my last episode from my mum even at the point when I was thinking about going inpatient. I couldn't face "that look" again. I'm 50 and my mum is 85 and in almost every other way our roles have reversed with me being the care taker, but in this one thing I'm still the helpless child.
