Hello. I was wondering if the sun lamp has really helped people on here. Today, my family and I went to Costco, which is a wholesaler store here in Canada, and they have it in the States too. You need a membership to shop there. Anyways, while my mom was getting her prescription (which turned out to be the wrong prescription!), I saw a sun lamp. I think it was called light box or something like that. It was this box, and there were two different settings for it: one or two. Anyways, it was $55 there, so I asked my mom if I could get it. She said do some research on it or what not. I am not sure if I should tell my pdoc about how depressed I get in the winter, but I think I will. I have been getting like this for the last 2 years or so. I feel myself starting to slip. That's not the point of this post. Has sun lamp really helped with your mood? Has it made you happier per se? I don't want to buy it and then it does nothing for me. I have been taking vitamin D pills lately, and my mom would be more impressed if I did stuff that is natural than medical drugs (I am on an SSRI for anxiety, but hasn't done anything for depression from what I have noticed). Sun lamp? Yes or no. Thanks for your response .

My sister in law from Ohio uses one each winter she spends several hours each day to lift her out of sad . My wife in Florida had a windowless office and she had to put daylight bulbs over her work area to help with the same thing . So yes it can help .
So in Canada would be even more necessary . I live in Florida and when I travel to Ohio in winter its gets very depressing , the grey skies and clouds when flying in are reasons why I could not live there any more . I am outside almost everyday here .
Thanks for this!

I bought one last winter from Costco but online. The highest the light goes is 10,000 Lux and I can switch it lower. That is the closet to sun light. I love my happy light and it definitely helped me a lot last winter. I recently pulled it out for the winter since I was starting to feel down and not motivated. I also take Vitamin D trough out winter.
