I recently got out of a residential facility. I was there for almost 5 months. I thought I had beat all of my problems with depression, self harm and suicidal ideations. Well recently I have been crashing back down. I have been suicidal and having really bad urges to cuts. I have been very low energy and motivation and just hopeless. I am at a loss for what to do. I am considering two options at the moment but I am open to any more. 1 is to ask my parents to move out of the State with aunt and see if a change in environment helps out. Living out there will help me see if i like the town and the school and then maybe we can move out there and the second opition is maybe trying a different residential facility. I think i might need more help and more time but i don't know. I could use all the help I can get. I am doing very poorly and I need some hope and some help. Any advice or suggestions?

Hi. I would try a different residential facility. Instead of moving out of state and the whole nine yards, it would make more sense to try another facility to compliment the one you just left. Sounds to me that you got a lot of work done, but need a little more work with a therapist on being grounded, safe and cognitive. You need a support group and peer support to go to as a halfway transistion instead of just leaving and being all alone. I compare that to going to an alcohol treatment facility, learning wonderful stuff then getting out and not going to meetings. You cannot do it on your own. You need a support group around you to help you in your daily life. I would look into that first thing. Perhaps that is all you need right now then another residential facility. I hope this helps. tc. blessings.

Start small. Try a new residential facility.

What is your current coping mechanism with wishes to self harm?

What about the residential facility worked? What didn't work? Are you able to find/duplicate the advantages in your current situation at home? I think this very conversation should be had with those at home.

List the things you think moving will be advantageous.
List the things that will not be an advantage (including to those you expect to move with you).
What would be your plan if it didn't work out?
